Our hotel is an official partner of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park. This underscores our connection to the region and the national park right on our doorstep.
Right behind the dike, in our cozy, thatched-roof house, the nature experience begins right at your doorstep. The vastness of the Wadden Sea, the fresh North Sea air, and the cries of the seagulls—here, you’re up close to the unique natural beauty of North Frisia.
As a National Park partner, we’d like to help you discover this unique landscape and the region. This includes nature experiences such as mudflat hikes, bike tours, and birdwatching, as well as collaborations with local partners. The region also plays an important role in our culinary offerings: At the “Alter Gustav” restaurant, you can enjoy fresh specialties, including select regional products.

A Unique Natural Paradise
Right on our doorstep lies the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park, covering an area of approximately 4,410 km², making it Germany’s largest national park. This impressive area boasts an incredible variety of habitats—from expansive mudflats and blooming salt marshes to dunes and sandbanks.
The Wadden Sea is home to around 10,000 species of animals and plants. Notably, it plays a crucial role in international bird migration: each year, 10 to 12 million migratory birds use the area as a resting and feeding ground (right in our backyard!). Additionally, significant populations of harbor seals, gray seals, and porpoises can be found here. UNESCO World Heritage Centre
The extraordinary significance of the Wadden Sea was also recognized by UNESCO in 2009: The Wadden Sea was added to the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List. This distinction underscores the special value of this unique natural and coastal landscape.
