From January 2 to February 28, 2025, our North Sea Hotel Arlau-Schleuse and our restaurant Deichgraf will be closed for a holiday break. True to the motto: “We’re not standing still, we’re just gaining momentum,” we’ll return with renewed energy and great anticipation for the new year.
Even during our holiday break, our reception remains available Monday – Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM via phone and email. Online bookings for the period afterward are still possible at any time.

IMPORTANT: One exception we as North Frisians can’t resist: During the Biike season (February 20–23, 2025), our hotel will be open, offering our special Biike arrangement. Secure your room now and join us in bidding farewell to winter.
Handover of the Hotel Restaurant to Lars Weniger
The Nordsee-Hotel Arlau-Schleuse is setting the course for a successful future: General Manager Helge Tüxen is handing over the Deichgraf restaurant to Lars Weniger, who will run the establishment under the new name “Alter Gustav.” The experienced restaurant professional brings with him many years of culinary expertise and treats his guests to authentic, seasonal cuisine, just as it is loved on the coast: simple, regional, and featuring a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
Long-time employee Katharina Peters serves as the bridge between the hotel and the restaurant—because “Alter Gustav” warmly welcomes both hotel guests and outside visitors. “Alter Gustav” also offers the perfect setting for family gatherings, conferences, and celebrations—right on the Arlau and with plenty of North Frisian hospitality. A place that invites you to arrive, feel at home, and stay.
Helge Tüxen, who not only runs this hotel but also the Nordsee-Hotel Hinrichsen in Husum and the Husum travel agency, has been working in the tourism industry for over 25 years. For a long time, he had dreamed of designing a special cruise tailored to his own vision.
In May 2023, this dream came true, and in May 2025, the cruise continued to new destinations.
But that’s not all: the third Neue Horizonte cruise is scheduled for May 2027 and will set sail for the most beautiful destinations in the Baltic Sea.

We automatically clean your room every two days. If you would prefer not to have your room cleaned, please hang the door hanger on your door with the red side facing out. If you would like only your towels changed or if you are missing any supplies, please contact the front desk.
For every time you opt out of room cleaning, we make a donation to the Friedrichskoog Seal Sanctuary. In addition to raising seal pups, the sanctuary cares for abandoned and sick seals along the North Sea coast of Schleswig-Holstein.
If you would like daily room cleaning, please notify the front desk by 6:00 PM the evening before. Thank you very much.
